	(posted by Zoop - 11:31)   Alright, the Pocket Station emulator that was released yesterday was a fake. Some people told me the system wasn't even released. Oh well, the link was removed. Actually, I ran it myself and it didn't erased any files of my drives. And it wasn't a virus, too.

For those that don't know, the PocketStation is a portable memory card that works much like the one for the Dreamcast. The homepage is in Japanese, so I don't exactly know what it can do yet. According to the homepage, this release (dn990428) fixes a few bugs with the NES sprite code and the $2002 lockup, adds preliminary SMS sound support and adds tile caching to the SMS VDP as well as fixing the bugs in the PC-Engine sprite code and the ui shutdown hook bug. Neo Geo

(posted by _Bnu - 22:16)   Anders Nilsson and Janne Korpela have released a new version of their incredible Neo-Geo emulator NeoRAGE-X for Windows 9x. This new version features some joystick bugfixes, an S3 hangup bug has been fixed, a Samurai Shodown 4 hangup bug has been fixed, possibility to select alternative background colour in the shots factory has been added plus a few more things. MSX

(posted by Zoop - 12:13)   Ricardo Bittencourt strikes again ! There was no update of BrMSX, his lightning fast MSX emulator for DOS since a while, so he just released one. This version introduces lot of changes, including but limited to SNES paddles support, optional perfect VDP timing (very rarely needed, mostly for demos I suppose), drive motor mechanics emulation (another rarely needed feature. The speed of the drive can now be correctly detected by MSX programs). Interrupt emulation was also fixed (Thezeus and the great HERO now works), and last but not least: you can now mount PC directory as an MSX drive ! This is probably the most awaited feature to lazy people like me, if you do not like creating .DSK file for each Basic program you want to test :-) Oh well, enough said. 	Neo Geo
	(posted by anubis-][ - 17:23)   The RAGE team has finally released a new version of their Neo Geo emulator, dubbed NeoRAGEx. While previous versions were for DOS, the emulator is now Windows based. Misc. News

(posted by anubis-][ - 16:42)   Strength (aka Demi) has informed us that Demi's ROM Hack Board, which has been down for quite some time now, has been resurrected. As always, people are welcomed to discuss topics of rom modification, assembly coding, and hardware/software information. The board originally helped to make the ROM Hacking and Translation scenes thrive during 1997 and 1998, and now it's back, thanks to gamesounds.com. The board is checked and run through daily to ensure quality posts (ROM begging, flames, etc are not tolerated), so feel free to ask a question, whether you're just learning assembly, looking for recruits, or even making a whole new game. Atari 2600

(posted by Zoop - 10:44)   John Saeger has just released a new version of Z26, the best Atari 2600 emulator available around. The only visible change in this version is the digital channel emulation, which is used by some games (including, but not limited to Quadrun) to produces voices. If you do not have the ROM for it (which shouldn't be hard to get, if you check on the homepage ;-) you may want to get the Eckhard Stolberg's talking demo. You will be amazed by it's quality, considering the program and it's data fit in four kilobytes, and the compression system is probably limited by the poor performances of a 6502 (the CPU inside of the Atari 2600 machine). 	Colecovision

As mentionned in a previous news item, this version introduces Colecovision emulation, as the system is technically similar to the Sega Game 1000 system (already emulated in previous versions of BrSMS). Three New DEMO ROMs. You can download these from the NES demo ROMs page (Link provided below). 2. Chris Covell's Bionic Commando for NES hack to make it more like the Japanese version. Downloadable from the NES translations page (See above :)). 3. Also added is the Bionic Commando for NES text decoder, which can be downloaded by using the link below. NES

(posted by anubis-][ - 17:29)   Delta has provided some news on Pretendo, his NES emulator for Windows/DirectX. I will not be releasing Pretendo 0.02 anytime in the near future By this I mean it won't be about for at least two weeks. But I've got some good news for that version. Let's give a warm welcome to Proxy (emt3734@rit.edu). He will be my assistant coder from now on =). He knows his DirectX and x86 ASM, so Pretendo 0.02 should see some more speed. We are currently re-writing a lot of routines for neatness, speed, efficiency, etc. We will be utilizing DirectInput for Joysticks, so if all goes well and we do not encounter many problems, 0.02 should have Joystick support. As for sound, it will probably be one of the last things implemented once we get the emulator running faster, and more solidly. We will be utilizing DirectSound for sound emulation most likely, and we hope to emulate all five sound chanels properly. As for the PPU, we are aware of all the ugly graphics glitches and problems, and lack of sprite priorities. Links: Pretendo Homepage

It features full 6502 emulation, full support for mapper 0 and partial support for mapper 3. It has no sound support as of yet and it's kinda slow, but feel free to try it out anyway. Calculators

(posted by Puyolin - 18:53)   Rusty Wagner has released a new Texas Instruments calculator emulator called Virtual TI. It sports many, many features such as support from the TI-82 to the TI-92+. You might recognize Rusty's name; he is the author of the Virtual TI-89/92(+) emulator (which is a great emulator). Because this is an alpha release, many things are disabled like key redefinitions, calculator backup, and the virtual link is currently very slow. Antiriad and the Raine team have just released a new version of their kick'ass multi arcade emulator for DOS, adding supports for 16 new games (including, but not limited to New Zealand Story, Arkanoid 2, Rambo 3 and Space Invaders 95), as well as *tons* of emulation improvments and fixes. This version adds mapper 3 support, as well as a PPU bugfix and hardware pause/reset. On the interface side, the emulator now features a ROM info tool and a display settings option. From what I've tried, emulation is very accurate but it is mentionned on the homepage that a few games do not run correctly on it. Nintendo

Despite it's version number, Pretendo already run many games (mappers 0, 1 and 2 are supported) and runs pretty fast (at least on my p120). It's definitively a new emulator to check and follow.
