| (posted by uzplayer - 09:46) According to EmuHQ a new emulator for the ZX Spectrum has been released called Tezxas. What's ironic is that this emulator is for the TI-89 computer! Sure enough, download it from the link below. Thanks to EmuHQ for the info. If I may interject for just one second, I would like to make a point. We can play just about any type of game on the major platforms including the IBM-PC and the Macintosh. I think it's about time the emulation community tackles some of the other lesser platforms (such as the TI-99) to write emulators for (which are capable of course.) By extending another platforms compatibility via. emulation, we can prove to the world that emulation can be used in a respectable manner to extend and expand a platforms life. I would love to see someone take on a task such as this. Link: Tezxas Website |

| (posted by uzplayer - 10:42) There has been new information obtained by EmuHQ from the Bleem! message boards. Qouted directly from EmuHQ: "First, 1.5 is coming along very nicely... I have had the pleasure of doing some testing on it, and I can say I am very impressed. I have installed DirectX 7.0 and haven't noticed any real DX+bleem problems. Here are a few of the improvements : #1 - Rand hit on the fact that FF8 MemCards would be working in 1.5, however he didn't mention that so will a ton of other MemCards... I don't want to give false expectations however, I am very impressed with the number of games that didn't used to Save/Load that now do. I do still have games that don't load or save however, please don't assume every game will magically save/load. #2 - GPF/NO LOAD -- I'm not giving away any of the games that have been fixed, but quite a few of the games that used to GPF (Crash) or Not Load at all are now working. Since it was normally that ONE point that kept the game from working, most of these games went straight from NO to YES bypassing "Partial" all together. I do still have games that don't load, or crash however, please don't assume every game will magically work. With the time that has gone past since the last update (only 40 days) the expectations for v1.5 build and build, and while we are pretty happy with the current build, the demand for something a bit more in this version is there. Rand is still working on some "Timing Issues" that basically effects the way bleem works. (Can cause video/sound desync, and even causing a game to not load at all). That's why you can have two identical machines, with identical hardware, but they run bleem differently. The same reason we suggest closing ALL programs before running bleem. Anyhow please know that this isn't everything in v1.5, and that it is still being worked on very hard, and we want to bring it to everyone as quickly as possible. Once I have more news that I can share, I will let you know. Until then..." Sounds like Bleem! is going to dominate. Thanks to EmuHQ for the info. Links: Bleem! Website - EmuHQ |

| (posted by uzplayer - 12:17) Is he doing this the right way? Or is it a PR stunt to get people off his back? Qouted from Mark Bridgett @ Emutech 2000: "ASSASSIN - Well, ill admit its been quite a while since I mentioned anything on the SONY PLAYSTATION EMULATOR that we have said will "rock" - Well, when I originally announced it I copped a HUGE amount of well deserved flack from many site OP's on my handling of it, as well as a load of undeserved diss aswell. The basic message was that it was a bad idea to hype an emulator that people knew nothing about, nor provide any screenshots. Because of this it was decided by myself and the coder that we should keep it "buttoned" (colloquialism for "shut up") Well, I relented and as a result ive kept tight lipped about the whole thing for a while, while the work went on. Anyway, lets talk a little more Assassin. Well the work definately go's on and the coder and myself have been involved in all manner of exciting things that we hope will go towards making our emulation project something special. Apart from that I cant say much more but that we are making excellent progress. We definately want to halt the cries of "fake" as much we can hence the move away from the whole fake emulator traits of too many huge promises too early (note I said HUGE there) , and I hope that we are going some way to achieve that by our relative silence on the project. Anyway, Ill tie up this status update with that great old statement - "All good things come to those who wait"" We'll see. I still think it's a fake. He's going the right way about it, but I cant help but to think that this is a publicity stunt. Link: Emutech 2000 |

| (posted by uzplayer - 13:35) The project that I called the one to watch PS2PC has some new information. Directly from the website, here's the latest: "More work has been done on PS2PC, but I'm not posting Build 002 just yet. There are a few memory management issues I still need to resolve. As a quick summary of what's been added, though, PS2PC now supports memory reads and writes (ie: MOV mem8, reg8 should be working...), and a primitive device layer is in place. The device system already supports I/O ports, IRQs, DMA channels, and memory-mapped I/O. Devices are "plug-in" based, much like the architecture of a PC. You "plug-in" devices just as you would put a card in a motherboard ISA or PCI slot. This allows a library of devices to be made (such as multiple video cards), and at emulation startup, you can choose which card(s) you'd like to enable. " Not bad. | (posted by uzplayer - 10:42) Over at Total Emulation there is a report that Zero of the website Emutech 2000 has announced that on 1/1/00 he will be releasing an N64 Emulator. The Emulator is not soppose to be as fast as UltraHLE, but is soppose to be compatible with about 20 games and various demos. At the website linked below, you will be able to find a screenshot of this emulator. I was inclined to believe it, but then I read a statement Rabidfrog made over at Total Emulation regarding the emulator "Is it real? i dont know... the site only has one screenshot, it says its of mario, but its a waverace grab! If i was developing a n64 emu with 20 games compatable so far, i'd post 20 screengrabs." I tend to agree with this statement. And would like to add my own that the people of Emutech 2000 in my book still doesnt have credibility. Look at Assassin and you'll see that we havent heard anything about it in months! Need I say more? Thanks to Total Emulation for the info. Correction: This is not an emulator being made by Zero. The person making the emulator emailed Zero about it. We'll see if this one is real. Most notably, I interfaced the wm-FPU-emu floating point emulator from the Linux kernel to bochs. Much thanks to Bill Metzenthen for letting me do that! ![]() | I'm back |
| (posted by uzplayer - 09:29) After three days of not having phone service, flood waters, and driving far west to use ANY type of ATM machine, I am back. Well, there's not much to say really. Accept tropical storm floyd was more then people expected in New Jersey. My town was declared a disaster area because of the flooding along with the other notable ones, (Bound Brook NJ got 15 inches of floodwater, I think my town Rochelle Park got something like 12 inches of floodwater.) Apartments in my complex had to be evacuated, cars were inveloped in the floodwaters, houses were totalled with floodwaters going as high as mid first floor windows. And because of the (explicitly censored) of Bell Atlantic, we had no phone lines until now due to the fact that the local and regional phone switches got flooded and shorted out. (The switches were located in the basements of the tall building, thus the water got in. REAL SMART on Bell Atlantics part.) Oh well. Things are sort of getting back to normal. I am at work, and dont expect much updates today as my email is totally overcrowded, and I aint sure if I can get to the majority of you, I will try my best though. I dont think it should be a problem though as Zeroage has taken the role quite nicely. (Thank you Zeroage and Emucamp for taking care of most of the news.) When I get home today of what promises to be a long day, I will see if I can post some pictures so you get an idea of how bad it was. (I got some nice shots of it all.) |

| (posted by ZeroAge - 18:54) Bjorn Astrom (AKA Bnu) is having some trouble with his computer and also he's having some personal trouble , therefore any development of Unirom (a great translation utility) is halted . He has also changed his e-mail address and you can e-mail him now at bnu@parodius.com . If anyone is to be blaimed for this is Microsoft (because they sucks) and the company behind Partition Magic (that screwed his partition table) . |

![]() | ZSNES Updated! |
| (posted by H-Clone - 14:00) Well, in a shocking development, ZSNES has been updated the day after it was last released. My prediction is we'll see another one before the end of next week, they always seem to come in threes. New in v0.962c :- Exit text now only displays when text mode is 80x25 Used hardware DMA counter to determine which sound block to write to rather than assuming it always starts at the first one for the sound routines. This should hopefully fix all those nasty sound static problems many people seems to have. Many thanks to Crono for the code and for his help! Removed Re-Init Every 30 Second option. Shouldn't be needed anymore Added the ability to disable the Low Pass Filter Implemented Diagonal Keys Implemented some SA-1 speedups Grab it from the link below. Thanks to Charles Doty himself for the news . btw: I know I promised not to update anymore , but what the hell , this IS great news . ![]() | Releases from SMS and Genesis Power |
| (posted by ZeroAge - 18:17) Well , since uzplayer is not here , I'm going to update (and I promess this is my last updated for the day , unless something really big happens) . SMS Power has released Montezuma's Revenge , it seems to be very good , and according to Zoop it was released in lots of systems . Genesis Power has released two versions of Mortal Kombat 2 for the 32x , but they can't tell the difference between then until we can compare both using a 32x emulator (and NO , THERE ARE NO 32 EMULATORS AVAILABLE , so don't even ask). ![]() | Weird news |
| (posted by ZeroAge - 17:56) Just read this on SlashDot . REALLY weird . "Brutus.1 will challenge humans in a contest to write the best short story on the theme of betrayal. It took six years to develop at a cost of about 2 million dollars US, and writes stories based on logic, AI, math, and grammar structures. The judges will be challenged, not only to pick the best story, but also to spot the computer written one. The contest runners don't believe they'll be able to tell the difference." I wonder when computers will be able to write novels :P Link: SlashDot |

![]() | Snes9x source code release |
| (posted by ZeroAge - 16:04) Here's what's new : 1.25 - Added BS 24Mbit ROM memory map, for Derby Stallion 96 and Sound Novel-TCool. No idea if it works. Thanks to Nose0000 for the info and code. - Corrected unzip code not to loop forever if an encrypted zip file is loaded -an error is generated instead. - Changed relative SPC700 cycle length for Mortal Kombat 3 to fix sample repeat problems - I wish I knew exactly how fast the SPC700 is clocked. Maybe I should write a test ROM and run it on a real SNES? 1.24 - 3dfx speed hack back again, only disabled when Seiken 3 is loaded. - Some minor SA-1 speed ups added - the SA-1 instruction skipping code will have to wait until I have more time. Thanks to MickoZ for the news. Link: Snes9x homepage |
