Final Press Release: RealityMan Quit's Emulation Scene for Good ---------------------------------------------------------------------- It is with the deepest regret that I must inform you that I am leaving the emulation scene for good. I have decided to look at new projects outside of emulation and will not be able to dedicate enough time to emulation. This decision has not been made lightly. The concern about the legal issues with Nintendo alone was not enough to drive me to this decision. Someone said, on the release of UltraHLE, "...this will change emulation forever..." and from what I have seen, this is starting to be true. There are still many skilled and dedicated programmers out there who, like me, write emulators as a hobby, however, there is a growing element out there who just want to peddle illegal roms, openly bash our work and generally make a nuisance of themselves. Even commercial magazines are slating and making comments about emulation that proves they do not understand what it is all about. Quite frankly I am sick of this, the increased backbiting and derogatory comments being made. So, whats nexts for RealityMan? I am considering looking for work in the games industry or, failing that, will work on some other kind of commercial software product. I'm also, quite seriously, looking to move to Canada in the next 12-18 months so there may be new opportunities there for me. I will continue to occasionally check the emu news sites to see whats new etc., but will no longer be involved in any emulation project. I'd just like to finish by saying a big thankyou to everyone at Emulators Unlimited, Foxy, The_BisH, Beast etc. (http://www.emuunlim.com) for all their support over the last couple of months, also to Jim at Emu News Service (http://www.emunews.net/), JoseQ, Zing and anyone else who has been involved with UltraHLE and the events following it. Kind Regards, RealityMan
