Since this was Lrd's first "interview", Lrd was quite nervous.. Special thanks to Ghola for slapping some sense into Lrd.. This "interview" may seem a bit messy, and it is, come on, this is my first interview.. Not everybody is perfect... =P
Since katharsis and I are good friends, this interview is mostly common chat, and REAL weird.. We apologize, but just think of it this way, we're being original.. =P

<Lrd[EFN]> Tell me, Katharsis, what was Geoshock's goal at the beginning? How have those goals changed?
<katharsis> Well. Geoshock got started by Haze after the end of Neogeo Country, that was RS's and Haze site where they released RS's dumps.
<katharsis> It was first just a place where you could download a full Neogeo set, in splitted form.
<katharsis> Well .. it changed from that small ranged goal first by adding reviews and news ...
<katharsis> artwork section ...
<katharsis> then it became more and more a page focussed on Neogeo but with other stuff as well, for example when I got Team Japump & J-Rom to release their stuff on our server
<Lrd[EFN]> News, yes, that brings me to another question... What are your favorite news pages?
<katharsis> news page ..

<katharsis> i think retrogames & emucamp together

<Lrd[EFN]> What motivated you to join Geoshock anyways?
<katharsis> hmm ...
<katharsis> i'm into neogeo emulation for quite a while ...
<katharsis> well, since it started ;)
<katharsis> and thought i could help haze a bit on stuff ...
<Lrd[EFN]> What are your favorite Neo Geo games, since you seem to love it ever so much?
<katharsis> samurai shodown 2 is my favorite fighter, i also have the MVS cart ...
<katharsis> last blade 2 just rocks too ... but i don't have the cart :( ... if someone feels like selling one he could /msg me in irc ;)
<Lrd[EFN]> Hehehehe..
<Lrd[EFN]> I'm a big fan of King of Fighters, what do you think of it? (Sorry, couldn't help..) =P
<katharsis> Well. I think i never liked the kof series too much ...
<Lrd[EFN]> OMG! Why is that?
<katharsis> maybe just coz. i think the fighters should stay in their own games, dunno ;)
Lrd frowned when he heard Katharsis disliked King of Fighters.
<Lrd[EFN]> You guys focused a lot on RAINE, so what were your reactions when RAINE was discontinued?
<katharsis> well, i expected this for quite a while ... but i also learned about Antiriad releasing the "beta-version" 0.28f only maybe one or two days before ... and i was really sad then ...
<katharsis> and again 4 or 5 days he sent me some newly added games and i knew that he couldn't stop it
<katharsis> ;)
<katharsis> but ...

<katharsis> i don't know exactly how much of the reasons why it got finally discontinued for good can be told in public
<Lrd[EFN]> I myself was sad at this.. You showed me the light of RAINE, kath.. Remember? =P
<Lrd[EFN]> Hmmm..
<katharsis> yeah ... i think i made many ppl aware of this emulator when i added the roms to geoshock
<Lrd[EFN]> I knew about RAINE, I just never knew how good it was..
<katharsis> and it is actually my very favorite arcade emu , maybe also because i helped on it as much as i could (it wasn't much and also not enough :( )...
<Lrd[EFN]> Well, I've been begged to ask this question but an "anonymous" person..
<Lrd[EFN]> What's your opinion on Cake?

<Lrd[EFN]> If you yourself could create an emulator, what system would it emulate?
<katharsis> hmm ... i think that everything i want to see emulated IS emulated or at least in the works...
<katharsis> hmm.
<katharsis> maybe i could emulate an athlon 800 on my old 386 box?

<Lrd[EFN]> What was it like, running GeoShock?
<katharsis> i had much fun with it most of the time ... it allways was very proud when i could release prevously "unreleased" dumps ... and i found quite a lot of victims i could shred in quake 3 ;) .. .i also learned a lot about html ... and i think i was much too lazy far too often
<Lrd[EFN]> Were you often asked for roms?
<Lrd[EFN]> (You know, by e-mail and stuff..)
<katharsis> yes ... i got about 5 to 10 mails an hour ... and most were about notworking links (99% of our links allways worked, it was nearly ALLWAYS just the filled userlimit) and rombegging
<katharsis> that's why i actually don't have my email address too widespread ...
<katharsis> i need a vacation from that ;)
<Lrd[EFN]> Well, at least you get some mail.. =P
<katharsis> i hated it ... drowning in lamer-mails sucks
<Lrd[EFN]> Anyways, what's your "real life" like?
<katharsis> well ... my real life ... listening to music is a very important part of it ... and i'm studying computer science
<katharsis> hmm ...
<katharsis> i'm far too often drunk ;)
<Lrd[EFN]> Hehehehe..
<Lrd[EFN]> What are your favorite games of any system?
<katharsis> quake 3 rocks me ... final fantasy 5 on snes rocked me ... some strange game on mame that wasn't robotron (greets kiddie :P ) ... in the hunt ...
<katharsis> btw. there are far too many great amiga games, to mention only a few: turrican 2, lemmings 1 ...

<Lrd[EFN]> What is your favorite animal?
<katharsis> hmm ... i like riding ... so maybe horses ...
<katharsis> dunno.

<Lrd[EFN]> What are your future plans?
<katharsis> hmm ... first i'll try to get geoshock's html using php3 ... and bringing it back up ... i think i shouldn't tell about the stuff i have in petto :)
<Lrd[EFN]> Of all the systems, which system do you hate most?
<katharsis> i allways hated the Atari 7800 coz it was just shorty released after i bought my Atari 2600 ... and it was so much better
<katharsis> i don't hate any other system
<katharsis> and i never did
<Lrd[EFN]> What's your opinion on the PlayStation 2?
<katharsis> hmm ...
<katharsis> i don't think i will ever buy one ...
<katharsis> at least the chances are very low ...
<Lrd[EFN]> Why is that?
<katharsis> everything i play from newer games are 1st person shooters ... and that's pc business ... i think i'm too much of a retrogamer for that
<Lrd[EFN]> Again, an anonymous person comes to haunt us.. =P
<Lrd[EFN]> As a child, who did you look up to?
<katharsis> hmm ... i guess my absolute idol was david hasslehoff from watching knight rider =]
<katharsis> till i was about 7 ...
<katharsis> 7 or 8 maybe

<Lrd[EFN]> Katharsis, why did you guys decide to re-open GeoShock?
<Lrd[EFN]> I think I've bugged you enough, so I'll try to wrap this up..

<katharsis> well, it hurted me inside to see the page gone, and since it went down i searched for a way to go on. ..

<Lrd[EFN]> Is there anything you would like to say to the lamers of emulation?
<katharsis> hmm ... the lamers out there shouldn't take it that serious when i make fun of them ... it is just fun

<Lrd[EFN]> What about the people in general.. Any last words?
<katharsis> well ... a message to everyone out there ... a lesson that i learned well ... don't take this all to serious ... it ain't real life ... IRC and Emulation Websites ... is just some fun for spare time, and you never ever should feel real aggression bcause of something that happens there, it is absolutely not worth it ...
