The Following is the transcript of the live interview done in the Emucamp EFNet IRC Channel by uzplayer of Emulation Camp, and Mr_X/Emushock of Total Emulation and Geoshock of David Lloyd of the comic strip Overclocked.. The interview has been edited from it’s original state (I.E. junk taken out, things moved around, grammar and spell checks etc.) Enjoy! (Overclkd = David Lloyd)

<uzplayer> Yep.. A triple effort this time.  Emucamp, Geoshock, and Total Emulation

<uzplayer> Tell us about yourself..
<OverClkd> i'm 20, been following emulation for five years, love music, compose music, 3d graphics, do some writing, amm currently enrolled at college - GMU . .. live near DC. And do overclocked too

<uzplayer> What do you do for a living?
<OverClkd> I pretend to study so I can pretend to graduate, and also work as an aide at a local library

<uzplayer> What's your major in college?
<OverClkd> oh, major is english btw

<Mr_X> what are your fav emulators?
<OverClkd> neorageX, MEKA (the GUI!!!), MAME - of course, and ZSNES

<Mr_X> what are you r favorite games?
<OverClkd> ohhh man . . . I loved the phantasy star series . . . almost anything by capcom . . . strider (yeah!) . . . pong, and ninja gaiden . . . and Target Fun on the 2600

<uzplayer> What inspired you to start the Overclocked Comic strip?
<OverClkd> it was totally random, just stared at the screen after creating two characters using MAX and had a moment of revelation. But I do have idols after a sort. Those would be MST3K, penny-arcade, seinfeld, and the far side

<Mr_X> How did you come up with the name professor pretzel and green?
<OverClkd> Green was a no brainer - his hair is green, but pretzel . . was because everyone was saying his hair looked like poo, which it does . . . but also looks like pretzels :). X suggested pretzel, btw

<uzplayer> What about the shaping of the characters? How did you come up with that?
<OverClkd> yeah . . . I can't really model that well . . it shows. I'm no PIXAR . . I wanted something easy, funny-looking, that could be changed quickly and wasn't too complex. Wanted to focus more on content than design

<Mr_X> what are your plans with the strip? Longterm?
<OverClkd> good question!! . . continue daily updates to 30 days (one month) . . and then maybe do bidaily or sometimes weekly updates. Also adding some new features.

<uzplayer> With all the names that could have been chosen for the strip, why Overclocked?
<OverClkd> damn, knew you'd ask that. thing is, I have no OC'd pcs myself, so it seems kinda hypocritical, and it also isn't specifically emu-related . . but . .. it sounded cool!

<Mr_X> how do you think the emulation community feels about your strip
<OverClkd> The positive feedback I've been getting is why the strip exists . . . I've gotten 95% positive, 5% negative . . . which is great . . plus the complements are from "big important people" . . like zophar . . people I've followed for years but never even talked too. Of course, after I say that, all those negatives are gonna flood me!

<uzplayer> How do you base your strips? Like in example.. You pick some random news or issue in the emu community/scene
<OverClkd> another good question . . . sometimes I have ideas written down days in advance, and just turn to my ideas "log" . . other times, it's what's happening NOW. And sometimes I take suggestions. With the bloodlust thing, it was based off retrogames message board :)

<uzplayer> Do you base your strip on anything outside of emulation that relates to emulation and if so what?
<OverClkd> split . . . umm . . no, no one I know in real life is into emus at all

<Mr_X> how long does it take for one strip?
<OverClkd> from 30 minutes to an hour and a half . . or longer if I don't have any ideas left in the log

<OverClkd> nothing yet . . . but it should be interesting . . . first "fictional" emu interview I believe . . characters will answer questions, in persona

<uzplayer> Any other comic strip projects in the future?
<OverClkd> nope . . . I'm currently still working on 3d art and music, so OC is the only regularly updated strip I'll have tiem for . . . OC will expand though.

<Mr_X> What are your thoughts about being being featured on my project:ex2k
<OverClkd> it's an exciting project, a great idea, and could really benefit the scene . . . so of course I'm glad to be in

(Although this was a generic question, the answer was still impressive)

<uzplayer> Here comes the generic question
<OverClkd> oh momma
<uzplayer> What are your thoughts about the emulation community?
<Mr_X> And leaks and leechers and Emulation-X?
<OverClkd> for all of the shitheads out there that leak betas, whine about release dates, and leech roms, there's a bunch of really great people who have GOOD intentions and are actually part of a community . . . I think you can't deny that, and I think it's damn impressive

<Mr_X> if Overclocked was animated what kind of voices would they have? Examples etc..
<OverClkd> ahh . . i toyed with doing FLASH, but too much time . . still might do a "special" edition . . . voices would be gruff for pretzel . . annoying for Green . . probably end up sounding like south park though, through imitation

<Mr_X> would u be interested in a fellow cartoonist help?
<uzplayer> I think Agent X here is trying to volunteer himself
<OverClkd> I am thinking of how to do something like that . . . maybe a parallel strip, or maybe actual cooperation on OC . . . interested yes, but nothing for sure

<uzplayer> What are some of your favorite emulation sites? Note: Zophar suggested it to me cuz everyone wants to know. Er the question. Heh. He didnt want me to wait <G>
<OverClkd> what a loaded question . . . i could list em all and not make any enemies . . . I love retrogames, emuHQ, ZD, emucamp, emutech200, emuunlim and emugaming (EVEN IF THEY DON'T COVER ME!!) and emuchrist is doing good, as well as emuforce. I left out vintagegaming . . it's good, and davesvgc was always a classic

(At this point, EmulationX’s plugs were at an all time high)

<Mr_X> Where do they live?
<OverClkd> I'm thinking of new character ideas . . . satan's in tonite's episode . . might become a regular. They live in my head, but they want to get out :)
<Mr_X> Very interesting? I mean are they in subspace? Or in cyberspace? Or with in a rom?
<uzplayer> That's like asking if you were a tree, what would you be? :-)
<OverClkd> oh . . . they spend most of their time indoors . . . like good geeks should . . . they could be anywhere. I'd be a redwood, yo.

<Mr_X> Will overclocked ever get its own domain?
<OverClkd> OC is moving to overclocked.retrogames.com very soon . . . the current episode will be offered for loacl hosting by any news site out there :)

<uzplayer> Do you believe an alternate universe does in fact exists where women love balding emu authors? :-) And umm site maintainers too? :-)
<Mr_X> ehehe lol and interviewers :)

<OverClkd> oh of course . . i've been there . . . they love siteops and esp. toon designers as well! the promised land!

<Mr_X> Does Prefessor Pretzel love strider on mame?
<OverClkd> everyone loves strider . . on mame and callus . . . if they don't , they're lying
<EmuShock> What are your thoughts of Aolers being involved in emulation.are they bad to the community? Should Aolers be filtered  from the Emultion Commuity(Emails,Irc?
<OverClkd> There are a surprising number of actual ok people on AOL . . . there were probably some ok guys that thought the world was flat long after columbus, too :). No one should be banned just for their ISP . .. even though I hate aol

<EmuShock> How would u depict myself and uzplayer? Can we apear one day in a strip?
<OverClkd> as badass mofo's of course . . . um . . no promises . . something I want to say though

<EmuShock> What do u think of the Dreamcast?
<OverClkd> Good, but sega needs to update their classics!! Shinobi, space Harrier, alex kidd, all on DC in 2000! please

<uzplayer> Do you program?
<OverClkd> no, not at all

<Drewbert> Two questions: a)how did you get into emulation and b) do you like Bloom County?
<OverClkd> got into emulation through . . . I think it was pasofami originally . . took me a long time to catch on to MAME . . like Bloom County, but like Doonesbury better :)

<MickoZ> 1) - Do you think that your comic can beat stickdeath (www.stickdeath.com for those who dunno)?
<OverClkd> I'm not in competetition with anyone, to my knowledge . . no one else does just-emu strip. Thank god

<MickoZ> well it's cuz stickdeath is about fighting :)
<MickoZ> you gotta check it!

<MickoZ> 2) I heard that scienide read your comics in his school class as well as other emu scene people.. don't you think that your comic should get banned from school so the students could be more attentive in class?
<OverClkd> OC should be banned from all sane people in the universe

<MickoZ> 3) Some people are claiming that EmuWorld is worse than Bill Gates for the Emulation Scene, and you move your site to their hosting service.. what are you though about the monopoly that some people accuse EmuWorld to exerce?
<OverClkd> interesting question - Emuworld houses sites that compete with one another - so how bad can that be?

<uzplayer> I am afraid to +v the next person. Next up: Zophar. This should be interesting.
<Zophar> MickoZ: People accused classicgaming.com of the exact same thing when they started hosting sites for nothing more than a banner. Myself included, I was no innocent. Whenever a company tries to come out on top, they tend to be bashed by those who are unsuccesful. Maybe you'll know what it's like someday ;)

<Zophar> OK David, q for you. Which of the strips that you created do you like the best? Out of all the overclocks you've made so far?
<OverClkd> I almost always like the current issue best :) tonight's is gonna be good, but the original kof99/hypocrisy one seemed to be most effective

<OverClkd> I love the idea, and love the game choice, and love the shots . . but they were gonna do a demo weeks ago and just disappeared. when they return, I expect the whole thing to have been well worth it

<[Delta]> What's your opinon on MameD
<OverClkd> delta - MAMED is bitchin, hope it starts a trend of porting to other OS's . . we need some DC emu's, stat!
<[Delta]> hehe, i dont' see a purpose of playing arcade stuff on a camera, but it's still very cool

<[Delta]> What is your attitude toward the underachieving, unreleased in 6 months NES emulator, pretendo?

<OverClkd> ahhh . . . clash, talking heads, police, cars, 80's in general, orbital, prodigy, beck, portishead, and anime music (yoko Kanno!) And almost everything else . . . almost

<[Delta]> Do you believe l0pht's claim that they can take down the internet in five minutes?
<OverClkd> if they can, they should, just to prove it and because it would change the fact that they could. He's dead, jim!
