The Creation of JAG's Video Game Zone
hen I was growing up during the mid 1980's, I was a huge Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) and Sega Master System (SMS) fan. My parents spoiled me by buying me both systems, as well as tons of games and accessories. I played through almost all of them, subscribed to Nintendo Power, watched the TV shows, the whole deal. Heck, my favorite movie of all time is The Wizard.

For as long as I can remember, another passion of mine has been writing and being creative. When I was little, I used to write my own video game reviews, inspired by the ones I read in magazines (check out the picture on the right, it's a scan of a review sheet I typed around 1990). It should come as no surprise then that JAG's Video Game Zone is a combination of three of my biggest

loves: writing, being creative, and video games.

Although by dedicating JAG's Video Game Zone solely to the NES and SMS might suggest I am only a fan of those systems, that is not the case at all. I consider myself a video game fan in general. Although the NES and SMS will always hold a very special place in my heart, there are many other systems I've enjoyed throughout the years. My first website, originally uploaded July 25th of 1996 and titled "Jose's Tekken 2 Home Page," was about a 3-D one-on-one fighting game. Amazingly, that website is still online even though I stopped subscribing to the ISP it is on years ago . . .

So there was a little bit about myself and how this website came into being. In the future I hope to be an editor for a video game magazine or website. Read below to find out which programs I used to make this site.

Programs Used to Create this Site

EditPad
Most of the HTML on this site was edited with this program. EditPad is basically a souped up version of Notepad written by an amateur programmer from Belgium. Netscape Composer was also a big help when I needed help with my HTML.
Winamp
As the icon says, I built some of this site "listening to Winamp" (Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, etc.). I must confess that I find it harder to write while listening to music, so I only try to listen to music when working on other stuff such as editing HTML and making graphics.
Photoshop
What can I say about this program? It's the premiere graphics editor out there in my opinion. Version 5.5 was especially helpful with its close integration to developing graphics for the Web.
WWW Gif Animator
WWW Gif Animator may appear like a cheap-o shareware program, but it's a fine application in my book. Featuring an intuitive interface, special effects and transitions.
