The Learning-Window(TM) Simulator (c) 1999 nIRV
"The only Simulator for girls"
... at the end of the tunnel...  [06/06/99]
  • Here it is, 0.0.1 is avaible. Now before you even think of downloading you need to know that this version only simulates the spelling game, and the bank of words is reduced to 4 because I had no time to do more (work-school-friends). Also, if you want to see something, you have to follow these easy steps: click on lwsim.exe -> click on keyboard! -> click on Spelling -> good, now answer the questions. Its as easy as this. Enjoy the show (and no, the ui is not final).<push enter>
  • Just to repeat myself: With that first release, I hope to get someone that already own a Learning-Windows and could HELP ME with those damn word bank and system animation. All you need is to do some simple files (edit a .lw1, a .lwc, or a .vov, you will see how easy it is). Check this out: Your name will be mentionned in the readme.txt, in the homepage and in the application so hurry up guys and help me.<push enter>

and there was light...  [04/06/99]
  • Wow, working for 2 hours on a stupid bug is certainly the best way to get crazy. Okey, right now the Spelling games is 90% done (the other 10% is only the word bank and some sounds which I can't get since nobody emails me if the have a learning-windows). I will do a bank that will not stick to the old one and no sound for now because I really want this first release to happen. Maybe someone will belive in this simulator after and email me, who knows.
  • I found a job and hopefully will get another one this weekend, therefore less time to work on this simulator. I just can't find enough time to work, to play in my band, and to code as hard as I wish I could. But that's ok. A release might be sooner or later, depends on how fast I will do this word bank.

. . . [28/05/99]
  • Hey guys... I saw "There's something about Mary" (I was probably the only human on earth that didn't see this movie). Anyhow, you should click on the link just under the title, funny... (btw, it was in noooo way taken from the homepage of Meka, this great SMS emu... naaaa).
  • 0.0.1 coming soon?

God damn it, still some news... zzz [27/05/99]
  • I guess it's time to have a better looking homepage don't you think? bah, na... I'll just keep changing the tables here and there to make me feel like I did a great job with the homepage (which indeed, is horrible). Now let's go back to the main point of this homepage, the emulator... (New version of SASS rules, still using vb though ;o)
  • The Spelling game is nearly done (on my to-do list, the spelling game was one of the first things to get ride of since it's long and paintful to do). All I really need now is a good bank of pictures to go with the game. Apparently, I did give my Learning-Windows to someone so I can't promise you I will stick to the L-W image bank UNLESS someone message me and says "hey dude I have a learning-windows, I could do your images, just show me how"...
  • Sorry for those(one or two?) who desesperatly wanted the release on monday, I guess I learned how paintful it is to do promises.

Even more News  [22/05/99]
  • A new version of SASS soon, wouhou!
  • Okey, my exams are done and that's my first day off... I spent most of the time outside with my friends but, I did start the actual simulator. Just for you guys, I did a screenshot showing what would look the led screen. NOTE: This is in no way the UI that will have the first final release, it's just a quick way to test my core and I thought it would be nice to show you guys some stuff. Here's the picture that I'm sure *cough cough* everyone wants *cough cough* ... anyway, here.
  • Now, I fseeked everywhere in my house until EOH and my Learning-Windows might be gone forever. I asked if someone could send me one and nobody answered. Therefore I decided to chose another path... what I want now is: anyone who has a learning-window, email me I need you guys (you will keep your Learning-Windows, and you will be in the credit, ho wooow).
  • Last piece of news, who knows, maybe monday I will release the app that did the screenshot, who knows?

News  [10/05/99]
  • The SASS homepage has been updated... we should expect a new release soon with better sound and tons of fix added. Cool. I love the new feature he tries to implement, the ini that could add words...
  • I guess I'm to excited by this simulator, I wasn't able to stay close to my computer and keep my hands away from this project... anyway I did the whole keyboard of the Learning-Window and wanted to let you know that a release may goes a little bit faster than expected. I took time to do a little picture of the keyboard ( I didn't include everything on this picture, there's a good reason to this: humanity is stingy and I don't want to see a Learning-Window Simulator ][ ;o) ... I shut up, here's the picture -> BLABLABLA -<

N.S.F.A.Q (Not so frequently asked question)
    What's this new simulator ?!?

- Well well well, the SAS simulator gave me the idea of this LW simulator :)... Right now, I only got the page up (as you can see), the background image done and some tiny tiny tiny piece of code started but I will not touch again to this simulator until the end of my semester is done which means in approximatly 2 weeks.

Can you tell me MORE ?!

- Coded in Visual C++ 5, which means that you will be able to run it under 95/98/NT... I don't know yet if I will write it directly into win32 api or I will use MFC... I will probably use MFC since I don't think this simulator really needs some ULTRA-SUPER-FAST code... :)

- What's going to be inside LWSim:
+ A real led screen simulator (The idea of the font in SASS is cool, but useless in this case)
+ Counting, Spelling, Pop Art, Hangman, Math Quiz and Memory Tone will certainly be simulated
+ I know there was some additional cadridge so if someone is ready to send them in... who knows :)
    + Sound (*)
+ Voice Module (if I can find the additional module. You have it? wow, send it to me right no )
+ Possibility to modify eatch game (e.g. add words in the spelling & hangman)
+ Multy-langage (yep this little machine was distributed at least from what I know in french and english...)

(*) There's just one dark part in this story, my LW is somewhat lost so I might not find it, therefore if I don't find it, no sound :( ... read the "How I can help you dude ?"

How can I help you dude ?

 - Okey, right now my Learning-Window is lost in my huge house so if someone REALLY wants to give is Learning-Window(TM) for a good cause, email me at nirvn@hotmail.com and you will be greatly rewarded (beta tester ... blablabla ...). (who knows, maybe your name could be in the spelling game ;o]  )

 - I also said that VTech was offering additional cadridge...  if you want, you can send them in too. Same thing here, you will be in the beta test list and you will be credited in the simulator...
