In 1993 a group of former demo coders released this game into the public, it's basically Asteroids, with many knobs on.

All the graphics are ray-traced and look excellent. The amiga's display is used to maximum capacity, there are different backgrounds (which are animated), and the sound is superb.

The game plays along with a deliberatly weak plot, somthing about a mad professor who sends his forces along disguised as asteroids, and it's your mission to clear five 'warps' of rocky mayhem. The levels play as five stages, in each stage you can pick the order of which you play the levels, by negotiating the level map.

The levels are rated in difficulty, and range from standard asteroids and spaceship levels (ala Blasteroids) to some very diverse levels indeed. There is one stage where there are 4 giant spheres, they span the screen from top to bottom, the 1st and 3rd move left, the 2nd and 4th move right, you have to manouver around them while trying to destroy them.

There are several different weapons to pick up, which are selectable by pressing the space bar, and you can pick up power-ups for any chosen weapon, this gives you a massive scope for fire-power.

There is also a shield which can be used in case of a collision, this must be topped up with energy is you are to survive the later levels since the action starts fast, and just gets faster.

Once all levels in a warp are completed and the warp boss is defeated, a new warp sector becomes available, entering this engages the warp sequece. This isn't any little cut-scene, this is a full blown 3d tunnel-fest, with incoming asteroids, mines and various objects, some of which must be destroyed, the rest must be avoided. Extra energy and lives can be picked up along the way too, which is good, since they are very much needed. Pictures cannot do the warp sequence justice, the game just has to be seen moving to be believed.

Occasionally, when a warp is completed, a bonus stage is accesible, this is best decribed as Lunar Lander on acid. Gravity takes effect and you basically have to negotiate a variety of tunnels and landscape, picking up lives, energy and so forth. The background pulsates with shades of color, and the whole thing is both bizzarre and spectacular.

In every instance, this game is pure class, the grpahics are the best i have seen on the amiga, and maintain the quality throughout, and the sound is constant techno, it keeps you keen and eager to kick asteroid ass.

If youve never played this game, i'd urge you to get a hold of it, it's an experience that no-other amiga game can give you.
